Two cars one night is a romantic film, with elements of film noir. It tells the story of two children, a girl (Polly) and a boy (Romeo). They are in two separate cars and start to have a conversation. Romeo then gets out of the car he’s in and walks over to Polly’s car. They start talking and talk about the plastic ring she has. Their parents then exit the pub and they have to say goodbye. Polly gives Romeo the ring as a gift to remember her by and he keeps the ring. I enjoyed the film because Taika Waititi is one of my favourite directors. However, I can’t see it being relevant to my short film as I’m not doing a romance which is the distinct genre of this short film.
